A BOROUGH leisure boss has backed a workplace cycling initiative next month and promised to dig his own bike out to lead by example.

Blackburn with Darwen Council is promoting the national Cycle September drive which urges firms, organisations and individual departments to join in a campaign to get people on two wheels.

Its executive member for Leisure Cllr Damian Talbot is urging companies to take part and start his own cycling career.

The campaign runs throughout the whole of September to see which workplaces and departments can get the most staff to try cycling.

Those who do best locally, nationally and regionally can win a selection of prizes.

Cllr Talbot said: “Cycling is great fun and really good for your health and our carbon footprint. I shall be digging my own bike out, which I haven’t ridden for a while to lead by example.”
