A TRACKING device led the owner of a stolen iPad straight to the thief.
Blackburn magistrates heard Patrick William Leggatt was caught with the device and a sat nav system which had been stolen from the same car.
And when he was searched by police they found property he had stolen from a shop.
Leggat, 42, of Selborne Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft which put him in breach of a conditional discharge for two previous thefts.
The conditional discharge was revoked and he was made subject to a community order with a nine-month drug rehabilitation requirement and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.
Ben Leech, defending, said his client was battling a long-standing heroin addiction.
