A MAN has appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged in connection with an incident in Queens Park Road on Saturday during which a car was attacked by masked men wielding baseball bats.
A five-year-old boy was in the car at the time of the attack and the car owner was allegedly hit with an axe.
Footage of the attack was shared widely on social media.
Hassan Waqqar Malik, 33, of Pringle Street, Blackburn, was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court charged with wounding Nasar Khan with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
He was also charged with affray, causing £20,000 worth of damage to a BMW and possessing offensive weapons, a bat and an axe, in Queens Park Road.
He will appear before the Crown Court on September 10.
A second man aged 19 arrested on suspicion of affray has been bailed.
Police said enquiries are ongoing to locate a number of other men.
Extra patrols have been put on in the area as reassurance.
