A FOOTBALL club has said it will be "business as usual" for tomorrow's European cup tie after a main road was closed due to a burst water main.

Since Monday United Utilities has been conducting repairs to a burst water main near Turf Moor.

This meant water pressure was lowered for residents on Harry Potts Way and the road had to be closed while the repairs were carried out.

There were some concerns Burnley FC's Europa Cup match against Aberdeen tomorrow would be affected by it.

However the football club has dismissed the concerns and said it will be "business as usual" for tomorrow's match.

A club spokesman said: “Works are set to continue until Monday, and a road closure will remain in place until this time.

“However, there will be access to pedestrians and access vehicles for the game and, as this road is normally closed on matchday as normal routine, it is business as usual ahead of, and following, Thursday night’s game.

Untited Utilities, the country's largest listed water company, have also said the road will be back open in time for the Europa League tie.

A spokesman for United Utilities said: “The reinstatement of the road outside Burnley FC will be completed tomorrow, in plenty of time before tomorrow night’s match.”

Tomorrow's crunch second leg will kick off at 7.45pm.
