WITH the glorious Royal Lancashire Show taking place last weekend it only felt right to look back on how this fantastic event has dazzled crowds in days gone by.

Tens of thousands of people have attended the three-day event which has been organised by the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society since 1767.

The show is well-known for its variety of activities, including celebratory chef demonstrations, livestock displays, band performances, food and craft stalls, a women's marquee and much more.

The family-friendly event is to highlight what the county has to offer and educate children on farming life.

These pictures show off how the event has become one of the highlights of the Lancashire calendar and shows no signs of slowing down.

The event has taken place at a variety of different locations over the years, including Astley Park in Chorley, where these photographs were taken in 1992.

The images show how popular the show was, with many competitions ranging from equestrian show jumping and growing plants and vegetables.

For the past couple of years the show has been put on at Salesbury Hall, off Ribchester Road, near Ribchester.
