A DRIVER clocked doing 123mph on the M6 was found to be over the drink limit when he was eventually stopped on the A59 at Samlesbury.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, told Blackburn magistrates Surjit Uppal Singh was driving at high speed for at least 15 miles on the motorway.

Singh, 44, of Elmers Green Lane, Skelmersdale, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and speeding.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 10 days' rehabilitation activity requirement and 100 hours' unpaid work, banned from driving for 14 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Singh, who was not represented, said he was very sorry.
