COMMUNITY group Civic Pride Rossendale has taken steps to conserve water amid the recent dry warm weather.
CPR members have been drawing water out of rivers to provide water for nature areas in Rossendale, keeping the pretty flower baskets in full bloom.
Chris Blomerley, the Chair of CPR, said: “One of Civic Pride’s strength’s is to find innovative solutions to problems.
“Our watering teams have worked extremely hard to save our floral displays for the community, but we recognise the need to act responsibly. This is our answer.”
Volunteers were out in full force during the warm weather to hydrate the flower baskets that have been placed, but water must be conserved for the foreseeable future too.
Submersible pumps were used to fill onboard water tanks in a charity van, before being delivered to the plants.
Although, some rain has started to fall, the recent dry spells have called for action to conserve water.
