A MASTERCHEF sensation and Michelin-starred chef are to come together to host an evening filled with taste explosions.
Lisa Goodwin-Allen, executive chef at Langho's Michelin-starred restaurant Northcote and Moonira Hinglotwala, the Blackburn-based chef who reached the final week on MasterChef 2018, are joining forces for one night only to present guests with a menu of modern dishes with an Indian twist.
Pharmacist-turned-chef Moonira was taught to cook traditional Gujarat dishes from her mum that were passed down from her grandma.
Aged just 13 she started cooking meals for her family, using ideas from Spanish, Italian and British cuisine, but always with Indian spices.
Earlier this year the mum-of-two wowed audiences with her appearance on MasterChef, where she made it through to the series final.
Talking about hosting the event and presenting a selection of her most popular dishes to guests, Moonira said: “It’s really, really exciting for me to have this opportunity and I’m really looking forward to the evening.
“A lot of the dishes will be adapted versions of what I cooked during my time on MasterChef –some of the dishes which I received good feedback on from the judges.
“Lisa was among the women who I cooked for during my time on the show and when I bumped into her when filming had finished and she suggested we try to do something together at some point I was delighted.
“For me it’s very heartwarming to see that people want to learn about my food.”
Included in the dishes cooked by Lisa and Moonira will be Moonira’s famous Murgui Naastoh (Medley of Chicken), Aloo Gobi, Nargisi Kofta Ne Akhni Pulao (Indian Scotch Egg) and Gahh Halwof (Saffron and Vanilla Panna Cotta).
‘An evening with Lisa Goodwin-Allen and Moonira Hinlotwala’ is taking place at Northcote on September 12.
Tickets are £80 and included in the price is a glass of wine, a four-course menu designed by Moonira and table refreshments.
