COMIC book fans came out in their droves for a town's second ever Comic Con.

More than 1,000 people from across the North West, including Liverpool, Preston and Chorley, made the trip to Pendle for Comic Colne, which was being held for the second year in a row.

There were at least 30 stallholders who pitched up at Colne Market in the 25 degree heat selling comic books, clothes, artwork, keyrings and food.

Market traders Karen Riley, Shauna Withnell and Maureen Hardacre, who organised the event, said they were incredibly impressed with this year's Comic Con, which took six months to organise.

Karen, 52, from Colne said:"It was a massive success last year and I think this year's has been even better.

"It has been fantastic and everyone who has helped out has been really accommodating. It's a busy time in Colne at the moment with a lot of events like the Grand Prix coming up."

Sheikh Islam, 46, from Burnley, who was selling Marvel and Star Wars artwork, said: "It was really good last time I was here and it has been even better this year."

Stallholders Alan, 37, and Hannah Phillipson, 32, from Thornton-Cleveleys were selling several frames, with the most popular related to cinematic films, including the recently released Deadpool and Avengers and upcoming Venom.

Some people came from neighbouring territories in Nelson, Barnoldswick and Burnley while others as far as Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester.

Caitlin Halstead, 19, of Colne, and Deborah Parnell, of Barnoldswick, 19, said: "It's good for brining the community together."

Comic Con fan Debbie Orton, 45, who lives near Turf Moor, said: "I tend to dress up and wanted to do that as Comic Colne this year.

"I'm dressed up as Steam Punk and it has been good. Quite a few people have dressed up and the atmosphere has been amazing."

Michael Hamer, 28, from Nelson, said: "It's meeting the people who are interested in the things you are interested in. That's what I love about Comic Con."
