A DIEHARD England fan met one of Blackburn Rovers’ legends while out and about in Russia.
Paul Clegg, along with friends Jezz Kelly and Larry Hopster, grabbed a selfie with Alan Shearer after he pulled up to admire their flag.
The father-of-two said the trio took their large flag, sporting the England and Blackburn Rovers colours, wherever they went and regularly took pictures with other fans.
However, the 54-year-old couldn’t believe it when he heard a Geordie shout, ‘nice flag boys’.
He said: “We turned around and couldn’t believe it, it was big Al.
“He made the effort to pull over in his van, climb over the seats to the window and have a chat to us, it was fantastic.
“I can’t speak highly enough of the guy, it was really nice of him to do that and speak to us, he didn’t have to pull over.
“Like Alan, everyone in Russia has been really welcoming.
“It’s been a carnival of football and we’ve all enjoyed every minute of it."
“I’ve been impressed with England, I think they should beat Panama.”
