CONFUSION surrounds the screening of tonight's big match on the giant screen outside Blackburn town hall.
It has now emerged that the match WILL be shown, despite some traders initially being told the game would not be screened.
The 38ft high structure has shown a number of World Cup matches this year, including Spain's shock 3-3 draw with Portugal.
The borough's regeneration boss Cllr Phil Riley had said earlier today that the council did not want to take trade away from pubs in the town.
However, since the Lancashire Telegraph published that first story, the council has released a statement to say the match will be screened.
A Blackburn with Darwen Council spokesman said: “The England match will definitely be played on the big screen tonight.
“After discussions with local traders and publicans, we decided to play it on a soft trial to see how people would take to it.
“A decision will be made about future England matches at a late date.”
