A PENSIONER is in 'critical condition' following a car crash in a town centre.

Emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a Honda and a blue Peugeot in Albert Road, Colne, shortly before 2pm yesterday.

Three ambulances were sent to the scene, along with a rapid response vehicle and a senior clinician.

Police said the driver of the Honda had fallen ill at the wheel and collided with the other vehicle.

Paramedics took a man in his mid 70s to Royal Blackburn Hospital and said he is in 'critical condition'.

An ambulance spokesman said: "We received a call at 1.51pm and a male patient in his mid 70s has been taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital in a critical condition."
