REPAIR work has been complete after people in Clitheroe were left without water due to a water leak.

The leak was reported on Painterwood Road at the junction of Whalley New Road at around 9am this morning.

Untited Utilities said repair work has now been complete and water levels will return to normal shortly.

Customers in BB7 were affected by the leak, with little or no water pressure.

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: "Our team of engineers has finished repairing the leaking pipe on Whalley Road and the water should be starting to flow normally again.

"However it may take up to 2 hours for the water pressure to return to normal levels.

"We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience."

They also warned due to disturbance to the pipes people may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured at first.

Earlier today traffic management had to be put in place for repairs to commence causing some traffic delays.
