TWO Green Party candidates are fighting next month's elections for Blackburn with Darwen Council on an agenda of cleaning up the borough.
Robin Field will contest Wensley Fold ward and Tariq Khan Audley and Queen’s Park in May 3’s poll.
Mr Field said: “Is Blackburn now the dirtiest town in Britain? Most of our streets, back alleys and open spaces are a complete mess and getting worse.
“It is not just the trash that is ruining our streets, but so many cars parked outrageously over pavements, obstructing pedestrians and making life impossible for many disabled people or parents with children.
“ In Blackburn, drivers even get away with parking on double yellows and on corners, blocking the sight lines of other drivers.
“It is not by chance that government figures show that Blackburn borough is now the most dangerous in Britain for pedestrians, with neither police nor council enforcing the law.”
