AN INITIATIVE aimed at cracking down on nuisance behaviour during the summer months is enjoying success across Lancashire, latest figures show.
Operation Summer Nights which aims to tackle and prevent alcohol related anti-social behaviour across the county has already seen reductions in all target areas.
Police say the operation, in its third year, has seen positive results compared with the same period last July including:
A 21 per cent reduction in incidents of anti-social behaviour;
6.1 per cent reduction in violent crime;
13.5 per cent reduction in alcohol-related violence;
25 per cent reduction in criminal damage;
22 per cent reduction in criminal damage to vehicles;
1,234 seizures of alcohol from juveniles in the street;
7,176 visits to off licences.
Supt Richard Spedding said: "These are tremendous results and go to show that all the activity across the force to tackle alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour is having an impact already.
"With further initiatives and operations planned for August we hope that the figures continue to fall and that the people of Lancashire enjoy the rest of the summer whilst remembering to drink sensibly."
