A BLACKBURN schoolboy will live every young football fan's dream by walking into Wembley next to the England team.

Callum Patton has been chosen to be one of the mascots at the England versus Germany match on August 22 at the new Wembley stadium.

The 12-year-old entered a draw run by the British Heart Foundation's Artie Beat Club for youngsters, and his name was picked out of hundreds of entrants.

His mum Karen Patton, from Apple Close, said: "It was a massive surprise when we got the letter.

"Callum has entered competitions before, as the club sends out all sorts of activities and chances to win prizes.

"He was delighted to win, as he's never been to Wembley or even London, and nor have I so it will be nice for us both."

Karen and Callum, a pupil at Walton-le-Dale Arts College and High School, will travel down to the capital for the day, and Callum will be given a strip to wear for his walk on to the pitch with a German player.

Karen will receive a free ticket for her and a friend so she can watch her only son's big moment from the stands.

She said: "Callum's always liked football, but I think he'll be an even bigger fan after this!

"He bought a Blackburn Rovers shirt with is birthday money a few weeks ago, and he's already got an England one, it's Wayne Rooney's, his favourite player.

"It's great that he was picked, it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and he got in just in time because he's now too old for the club!"

England will play Germany in an international friendly match, kicking off at 8pm.
