A 15-year-old boy was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital today following a house fire.
The incident occurred in Persia Street, Accrington, at around 6.30am.
Fire crews said the blaze started in the kitchen but because the room had been so badly damaged they could not tell at this point what sparked the inferno.
An investigation has been launched in to what caused the blaze.
Firefighters said the boy was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
