BOSSES of the video-sharing website You-Tube have agreed to remove footage of a Darwen street fight following complaints.

Insp Andrea Bradbury of Darwen CID and local MP Janet Anderson both contacted the website over the film, entitled Darwen Girl Fight.

The 32-second video features two girls in a street brawl, thought to be in the Birch Hall area, and has been by seen by more than 4,800 people since it was posted three months ago.

Police are investigating the video as possibly being a staged fight but wanted YouTube bosses to restrict access.

Insp Bradbury said: "On that occasion we think it may be a staged fight between two girls as opposed to a genuine fight.

"You can hear in the background a girl shouting Have you got it?' Once we have identified some of the parties involved we will get to the bottom of it."

The video shows a teenage girl grabbing a second girl around the waist and trying to pull her down.

But the second girl grabs her hair and pulls it with such force that the first girl is thrown to the floor and the second girl starts kicking her with her left foot.

Another teenage girl attempts to pull her away but both fall down on the floor instead. A fourth is seen stepping in with a bottle in her hand but she gets pushed out of the way as a number of teenage boys and girls crowd the fighting girls.

One comment written by a viewer underneath reads ha ha, cool'.

Mrs Anderson said she was prompted to write to Eric Schmidt, chief executive of Google UK Ltd, owners of YouTube, after being contacted by worried constituents.

She wrote: "There have recently been a number of postings on this site from my constituency which are causing concern to many of my constit-uents.

"These have predom-inantly involved young people posting videos of seriously anti-social activities.

"The most recent wit-nessed a quite disturbing fight between teenage girls in Darwen.

"I should be most grateful, therefore, if you could assure me that these postings will be removed from the site forthwith, and that no similar postings in the future will be tolerated."

Darwen Girl Fight 2 is a separate film of the same fight, also on the site, but features less violence and has been viewed more than 3,300 times.

A YouTube spokesperson said: "YouTube has clear terms and conditions which prohibit certain types of content from being uploaded on to the site.

We'd like to thank Janet Anderson for bringing the Darwen videos to our attention.

"Having reviewed these videos we have decided that they are indeed contrary to our guidelines and have removed them."
