A PLAY written by a Nelson woman had its debut performance in Manchester at a top regional theatre festival.

Julia Hogan's play Each to their Own' will be shown all week at the Printworks in Manchester.

The play, based in a Lancashire mill town, is a story of teenage temptation, secret menace and cultural chemistry.

It is one of 21 one-hour play slots which will form Manchester's 24:7 Theatre Festival. Julia, 46, of Beaufort Street, Nelson, enlisted former Edge End High School teacher Chris Blacoe, from Colne, to direct the performance.

Cast members are from all over East Lancashire, including Donna Rainford from Burnley as Lisa and Shoab Basharat from Nelson as Aqeel.

The performances run until Sunday July 29. Tickets cost £6 and £5 for concessions and can be obtained from Manchester's Library Theatre box office on 0161 236 7110. They are also available in person at the Central Library, St Peter's Square, Manchester.
