A 21-YEAR-OLD householder came home after a break away to find his flat had been raided and emptied.

A burglar had broken into the flat in a block in Grime Street, Darwen, by forcing the front door, and got away with a huge haul.

Sgt Mark Thackeray-Scott, of Darwen CID, said the victim returned home after a week away to find all his belongings had been stolen.

He said: "The resident had been away for a week and when he returned all his worldly goods had been removed. He has been cleaned out."

His television, washing machine and drier were among the items stolen.

After the burglary, which took place some time between July 2 and July 11, neighbours found some of the items and returned them to him.

The value of the stolen items is estimated to be about £1,000.
