ORGANISERS of Darwen's Belgrave Hoarding Boards Project are asking community groups to get involved.

The group plan to replace the old crumbling hoarding boards that surround the former Belgrave Mill site, on Bolton Road with ones decorated with images inspired by the town.

The group devised a concept of ‘People, Place and Pride’ and aims to showcase the people behind the big businesses in Darwen, the places people love and the pride residents have in their town.

Project co-ordinator Katherine Lucarz produced a survey to gage what Darwen residents wanted to see on the boards.

She said: “We managed to speak to all of the businesses voted for and we have been out meeting them and taking their pictures this week.

“The stories have been so inspiring, it’s truly remarkable what people can achieve when they have the Darwen community behind them.

“Next week we meet all the community groups and want to hear about any clubs or individuals that are a great asset to the town.

“We can’t wait to get these hoarding boards up and show off the spirit of Darwen.”
