A MAN and two teenagers have each been sentenced to a year in custody after a vicious assault in which they kicked a victim in the head.
They set upon a 46-year-old man after he visited a store in Chorley in May last year. He was threatened and knocked to the ground before being left with a broken nose and facial fractures.
Kane Brooks, 21, of Grasmere Terrace, Chorley, was jailed for 12 months after a hearing at Preston Crown Court.
Two 17-year-olds from Chorley, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were given the same sentence in a young offenders' institution.
Detectives started an investigation after the attack in Lyons Lane.
The court heard that the man saw a group walking in the road stopping traffic, abusing passers-by and acting in an aggressive and inappropriate manner.
As the victim approached he was threatened and then viciously assaulted.
Det Con Alan Thomson, of Chorley CID, said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on the victim that resulted in serious and lasting injuries.
“The offenders who, at the time, were described as descending on the victim like a pack, have only been brought to justice as a result of co-operation between the police and the local community.”
