A FORMER child actor is now making a name for himself on the track.

Jacob Hughes, from Chorley, will be remembered by millions as ‘Baby Matthew’ in season five of comedy-drama Cold Feet, which returns for series seven this month.

The 15-year-old has since turned his back on acting and is now a triathlete competing for the North West.

The series ran until 2003 before its series six revival last October with Ceallach Spellman playing the now teenage Matthew Williams.

Mr Hughes said: “I obviously don’t remember anything about it. I didn’t have any hair for around eight months and I think they wanted a bald baby.

“The One Show called me back this month and they asked James Nesbitt if he knew who I was and he did. All I can think is what a fat baby I was.

“It was really weird looking back on it and I don’t think I quite believe it’s me.

“It was all brought back when The One Show called up and gave James Nesbitt some questions about the series. He was asked to identify me from Season Five and he got it straight away.

“He was great with me off camera asking how I was. It was a bit strange being there but I enjoyed it. I definitely prefer sport now.

“My acting career was over before it really began so my focus is on triathlons.”
