VOLUNTEERS have celebrated a Muslim holiday with a massive chocolate donation for hospital staff.

A joint initiative between the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital’s chaplaincy department and charity Al-Imdaad Foundation saw 50 wards and departments at the hospital celebrate Eid al-Adha.

In total, 100 boxes of luxury chocolates were donated by the Blackburn Muslim community.

The chocolate box donation was the idea of Audley Range-based Al-Imdaad Foundation and its director Hafez Abdussamad Mulla, who wanted to thank hospital staff for the work they do on behalf of people in East Lancashire.

The Thornton's chocolates arrived at the hospital’s spiritual care centre ready for Al-Imdaad Foundation volunteers and hospital chaplains to deliver to wards and departments.

Pronounced EED al-UHD-huh, the Eid holiday is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. It is one of two Eid holidays observed by Muslims.
