HYNDBURN MP Graham Jones has vowed to step up his campaign to extend the M65 across the Pennines.
As Northern council leaders and businessmen met in Leeds yesterday at a transport summit on improving rail and road links to and in the region, he published a possible map of the new motorway.
Mr Jones said on Facebook:“I will keep on campaigning for an M65 extension to A1. No idea of the route but something like this would be helpful?”
It would take the M65 from Colne over to Keighley and Shipley with spurs to Bradford and the M606, to the M1 at Garforth and the A1M near Knaresborough.
Pendle Liberal Democrat peer Tony Greaves said: “We need to concentrate on extending the East Lancashire rail line to Skipton.”
He added: “Extending the M65 will never happen.”
