THE leader of Lancashire County Council’s Labour group will oppose the ruling Conservatives plans to restructure the authority’s senior management at a meeting on Monday
Its cabinet will consider three options including Tory leader Cllr Geoff Driver’s plan to streamline the top team in a manner which makes chief executive Jo Turton’s post redundant.
Nelson East county Cllr Azhar Ali said: “I will propose a restructuring to produce and efficient and cost effective authority.
“I will oppose county Cllr Driver’s botched job aimed at forcing Ms Turton out of her post.”
Ms Turton has tabled an alternative which retains a separate chief executive post while a third option suggests ‘a review of the council’s operating model’
The agenda item includes extensive legal advice.
