TWO women attacked a pub landlord when he refused to serve them because they were drunk.

Blackburn magistrates heard Stacie Connolly punched the publican in the face as he tried to usher her out of the Bay Horse in Oswaldtwistle.

They both ended up on the floor and the other woman kicked him.

Connolly of Roe Grieve Road, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to assaulting Alan Herbert.

She was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 150 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the two women had been in the pub several times during the evening and been refused service. The last time they came in Connolly became 'gobby' and said she wasn't going to leave.

"The landlord was assaulted as he tried to usher them out," said Miss Allan. "A colleague came to his assistance and they managed to push the two women out and lock the door before calling the police."

Miss Allan said the other woman had been dealt with on a previous occasion.

Graeme Parkinson, defending, said because his client had little recollection of the incident there was little he could say about it.

"She does wish to apologise to the gentleman concerned and says she doesn't normally behave in that way," said Mr Parkinson. "The most serious part of the assault was the kick at which time she was being restrained on the floor by the landlord."
