A NEIGHBOUR dispute erupted into violence on a Padiham street, a court heard.

Blackburn magistrates was told Ella Elizabeth Macdemid was holding a brick when she told Juliette Robinson she would 'cave her head in'.

And Macdermid's partner, Kayleigh Anne Atkinson, armed herself with a baseball bat and ran at Miss Robinson's partner, Craig Heyes.

Macdermid, 24, of Abingdon Road, Padiham, pleaded guilty to assaulting Miss Robinson, damaging her car and possessing an offensive weapon, a brick, in a public place.

Atkinson, 21, of the same address, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour towards Mr Heyes and possession of an offensive weapon, a baseball bat, in a public place.

They were both sent on bail to Burnley Crown Court to be sentenced.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the two couples lived across the road from each other.

On the day of the incident Miss Robinson was leaving Tesco when she saw the defendants.

"Macdermid gave her a dirty look and Atkinson said something to her," said Miss Allan. "Outside her home she saw them standing near the back of her car and Macdermid was holding a brick.

"She threw the brick towards Miss Robinson and then pushed the car door into her. Atkinson was shouting at Macdermid, encouraging her."

Mr Heyes told police that as they pulled up outside their house he saw Macdermid holding the brick. He said he saw her throw the brick towards his partner but it missed and hit the car. Atkinson ran at him and he pushed her away.

When he ran to help Miss Robinson Atkinson went into her house and emerged carrying the baseball bat, the court heard.

Daniel Fraser, for Macdermid, said she had pleaded guilty to everything at the first opportunity and didn't seek to minimise what she had done.

David Leech, for Atkinson, said she had only become involved when she saw her partner being chased by Mr Heyes.
