THE first Eurofighter Typhoon and Hawk aircrafts for the Royal Air Force of Oman have been formally unveiled in a ceremony held at BAE Systems’ Military Air and Information base at Warton.

People from the defence giant’s Samlesbury and Warton bases work on the aircrafts which are being made for a number of countries.

Managing director Chris Boardman said: “We are privileged and honoured to be able to celebrate the completion of the first Eurofighter Typhoon and Hawk aircraft.

“BAE Systems has a long and proud history of working in Oman, which has been built over more than half a century.

“This event represents a further strengthening of that special relationship.”

An invited audience of more than 100 delegates witnessed the event including His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidi, the Sultanate of Oman’s minister responsible for defence affairs.

It was followed by a fly-past of a Eurofighter Typhoon.
