THE Conservatives have selected a leading campaigner for Brexit to fight the Burnley seat in the June 8 General Election.

Paul White, 30, is a Pendle councillor and was North West director of Vote Leave during the Euro-referendum campaign.

He has promised ‘a full-on campaign’ to win the seat which has not returned a Conservative MP since 1910

Cllr White, who lost his place on Lancashire County Council last week, said: “Burnley voted to leave the EU with 66 per cent of its voters backing Brexit.

“They deserve a Brexit MP.

“Labour’s Julie Copper is a ‘Remainer’ and a member of Jeremy Corbyn’s front bench and Liberal Democrat candidate Gordon Birtwistle is a ‘Remainer’ too.

“I am the candidate in a unique set of circumstances.”
