HUNDREDS of motorists have been caught speeding on a Blackburn road in the last two weeks.

The speed camera on Preston New Road, close to the junction with Branch Road, has detected over 700 drivers breaking the 30mph speed limit since January 19.

That's more than 50 per day - and Blackburn and Darwen police have issued a warning on social media.

A Facebook post read: "The speed camera on Preston New Road, Mellor (near Branch Road) has detected over 700 motorists breaking the 30mph speed limit since 19th January.

"We really don’t want to catch you speeding hence the warning, so PLEASE SLOW DOWN and help keep our roads safe for all to use, thank you ☺."
