The case comes after police were called to a house in Wellington Court, just before 3pm on Monday, January 16, and a baby was found dead with a number of injuries.
Tunstill is expected to appear before a judge at Preston Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on the allegation later this week.
Police have confirmed that a 30-year-old man, who was arrested at the same time as Tunstill, is now not believed to have played any role in the baby’s death.
He has been released without charge by investigating officers.
