He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £320 compensation.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said a picture of Bloomfield had been circulated to all TK Maxx stores because of incidents at a store in the North East although no charges had arisen from that.

She said Bloomfield was seen with a woman who was removing security tags and concealing them in the pram.

After being challenged outside the store they left but were stopped on the M65 shortly after. “It is clear they drove to the area to steal,” said Miss Allan.
