THE hustle and bustle of East Lancashire came to a halt yesterday as those who gave their lives for our future were remembered.
Thousands of people gathered outside town halls across the region, such as Blackburn, below left, and Burnley, below right, to pay their respects to those who never came home from war.
Many schools made their own special tributes, with Darwen’s St Barnabas CE Primary School, above left, creating a large wreath while learning about life during the war.
Tomorrow the official wreath laying ceremonies will take place.
Cllr Jeff Sumner, mayor of Burnley Council, said: “I hope people will join us to pay their respects to those men and women who served our country.”
