SHOPPING centre bosses have invested £30,000 in customer services points in Blackburn.

The Ask Me Points in The Mall Blackburn have been extended and updated to allow for an increase in demand.

Centre bosses said the devices are now able to offer additional services such as the hugely-popular Collect Plus and the new children’s ride in carts.

Community leaders hailed the investment as 'good news for the town'.

Loraine Jones, general manager at The Mall said the investment proved an ongoing commitment to ensuring customers have a good experience.

She said: "The new Ask Me Point looks stunning and the investment is part of our ongoing commitment to providing the best customer service possible.

“We are continually assessing potential new services that can be offered here in The Mall, with the latest two additions being our Collect Plus and ride in children’s cars.

"With more exciting plans in the pipeline it is a case of watch this space to see what’s coming next.”

The interactive digital touch points also allow shoppers to browse centre maps, current retailers and Mall job vacancies as well as find information about centre events.

The Ask Me Point is home to five highly trained customer services advisors, headed up by The Mall’s newest recruit, Jason Cothliff.

Mrs Jones said: “We are delighted to welcome Jason to The Mall as the new Ask Me Point supervisor. He has instantly jelled with the team and customers have already taken a real shine to him.

Cllr Hussain Akhtar, who represents the town centre on Blackburn with Darwen Council, said: "This is very good for Blackburn and the people in the town.

"I'm very pleased to hear the news and I'm glad that the people of Blackburn will be able to benefit from this investment.

"It's what the people want and I'm sure that lots of residents will be very happy to hear the news.

"It shows a great investment in the town centre which is exactly what the council works towards achieving."
