NOMINATIONS for the Burnley Community Sports Awards are now open and people can put forward their local sporting heroes.
There are ten categories in which people could win an accolade, including club and coach of the year, volunteer and young volunteer of the year, school of the year, rising star, health champion, community award and more.
All shortlisted nominees will be invited to an awards ceremony hosted by former world champion and Olympic silver medallist Roger Black.
It is scheduled to take place on July 21 at Burnley Mechanics Theatre.
Nominations can be submitted at www.burnleyleisure.co.uk/sportsawards.
Paul Foster, head of leisure development at Burnley Leisure, said: “Burnley Community Sport Awards has helped recognise and share some amazing stories of achievements by individuals and teams from Burnley over many years.
“Each year there are new nominations from various schools, sport clubs and community groups across the town.
"And every year the panel is faced with the hard job of picking the finalists for each category from the staggering amount of nominations we receive.
“This proves to us that the quality of sport in Burnley is at a very high level and there are plenty of opportunities for people to get into sport.
"And this wouldn’t happen without the support of the many volunteers in sport locally, so let’s recognise this and celebrate community sport in Burnley again this year.”
