AS the competition hots up and our seven couples become six for the quarter finals, it is now all about the technique and learning two dances this week with the Quickstep-athon.
Kellie & Kevin Salsa C8 D8 L9 B9 T34
Great choreography from these two this week, Kellie has worked so hard on her Salsa styling, the routine was full of speed, content and performance, well done.
Katie & Anton Argentine Tango C7 D8 L8 B9 T32
This was a true professional demonstration of a very technically demanding dance with an excellent standard and presentation.
Helen & Aljaz Viennese Waltz C9 D10 L10 B10 T39
A very fluid, soft and floating Viennese Waltz, performed to perfection and demonstrated with ease, combined with a beautiful storyline.
Jay & Aliona Tango C9 D10 L9 B10 T38
Although I loved the performance and presentation, unfortunately I thought Jay’s technique was lacking compared to how we have seen him perform in previous weeks.
Peter & Jeanette American Smooth Foxtrot C7 D8 L8 B8 T31
Peter is definitely a showman but I can’t help thinking he is now out of his depth because of the very high standard with the other dancers. For me it was more of a saunter than a Foxtrot.
Anita & Gleb Rumba C7 D8 L7 B9 T31
Anita looked absolutely beautiful dancing the Rumba, I would have preferred to see a slightly longer leg line and a little less fast, fast, fast and more quick, quick, slow.
Georgia & Giovanni Paso Doblé C8 D8 L8 B9 T33
Georgia is an amazing dancer and her solo section at the beginning was very well done, but I did not see her bringing her feet together and it did become a little bit fraught, I still preferred Anita’s& Gleb’s Paso Doblé from last week.
Quickstep-athon Results
Position
1 Helen & Aljaz 7
2 Georgia & Giovanni 6
3 Katie & Anton 5
4 Anita & Gleb 4
5 Jay & Aliona 3
6 Kellie & Kevin 2
7 Peter & Jeanette 1
The Quickstep-athon was very difficult to judge as the camera angles were swapping so quickly but having reviewed the Quickstep several times I agree with the judges results.
Sunday Results Show
A W.O.M.A.N. opening from our professional dancers (why my local launderette is not full of ladies in short dungarees I will never know) but with Kellie & Kevin and Peter & Jeanette in the dreaded dance off and the quarter finals looming upon us, and this years standard being so high, both couples performed slightly better but fortunately we see Kellie dance another day.
