The court was told that while he was in the house in Blackburn, Perry had sprayed himself with lighter fluid and set it on fire.

Miss Quinn was said to be so concerned that she called the emergency services and police who entered the house to find Perry had attached his belt to a light fitting with the intention of harming himself.

Perry, of Walsh Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to making threats to damage property. He was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced on December 14.

Eddie Harrison, prosecuting, said the couple had been in a relationship for six years prior to their separation. After abusing Miss Quinn in the pub Perry left but contacted her shortly after and made the threats.
