LANCASHIRE Police have said that a reported abduction in Blackburn did not take place.
At about 1.30pm on Thursday, police said they had received a report two children witnessed a small child, possibly aged about four, being taken by a man in a white van in Earl Street.

DI Eric Halford, from Blackburn CID, said: “We take these types of reports very seriously and as in this case, we had officers looking into the allegation straight away and I can say we have found no evidence a child has been abducted or even attempted to be abducted.
“We understand that people may still be concerned and we would like to reassure residents that these types of incidents are rare and we always investigate them thoroughly.”
