A bus swerved to avoid a pedestrian and ploughed into two cars.

Police said the woman pedestrian stepped out into the middle of the road at the junction of Whalley Road and Knowlemere Street, Accrington.

The driver managed to steer the bus, which was on the Hyndburn circular route, away from the woman, and instead hit two parked cars.

The incident happened yesterday at around 3pm.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene. However the pedestrian escaped with just a minor injury to her finger.

She was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital to be checked over but was later discharged.

Inspector Pete Zsigmond said: "It appears the female ran out into the road. The bus driver took avoiding action and collided with two stationary vehicles. The woman only suffered a minor injury."
