DETECTIVES in Burnley are hunting two robbers after a raid at a town centre jewellers.

Two thugs burst into David Marsden jewellers, Kierby Walk at about 11.20am yesterday and confronted a female member of staff.

Officers said she was told to get out of the way by the robbers, who then broke into one of the shop window display cabinets.

They grabbed watches and jewellery before making off.

The value of the stolen goods is not yet known. It is not believed that either of the raiders were armed.

Detectives have launched an investigation and have interviewed the shop assistant. They have also carried out a forensic examination at the scene in a bid to try and retrieve any fingerprint evidence.

Town centre and shop CCTV is also being studied.

Det Insp Sam Birtwel said: "During the incident it is alleged that two men confronted a female member of staff before forcing access to a display area and making off with jewellery and cash."
