A FORMER soldier who had planned to stay the night at a friend’s house “foolishly” decided to drive home after it was made clear he wasn’t welcome.
Blackburn magistrates heard Lee Cocker was breathalysed as he drove home and found to be nearly three times the legal limit.

Cocker, 36, of Sydney Street, Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was banned from driving for two years and fined £250 with £150 criminal court charge and £25 victim surcharge.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police on duty in Shadsworth Road at 1.30am saw a car mount the kerb as it negotiated a roundabout.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Cocker had been drinking at a friend’s house and had always intended to stay over.
