POP star Reece Bibby is backing the Lancashire Telegraph’s campaign to help prolong the life of Blackburn schoolgirl Enola Halleron.

The former Stereo Kicks’ star’s tweet was favourited more than 850 times and retweeted to 480 other followers, with fans adding names to the Telegraph’s petition.

The fate of Enola, 11, who suffers from the super rare mucopolysaccharidosis which means she will never grow more than one metre tall and suffers from heart disease, skeletal abnormalities, vision and hearing loss, has touched the heart of our readers. In just a few days more than 800 people have added their names to the online petition with dozens more signing the paper coupon version.

Enola’s mum Donna, of Larch Close, Blackburn, said the £395,000-a-year Vimizim drug could add 10 years to her daughter’s life if it was to be made available on the NHS. It was successfully trialled and licensed for use in the UK but after 15 months a decision has still not been made over whether it can be used in England over cost queries.

Since our exclusive story on the family’s plight last week hundreds of you have posted emotional comments online.

Jason Lord, of Great Harwood, posted ‘Just heard the full story and find it unbelievable’; Claire Stewart, of Blackburn, ‘This seems like a worthwhile petition to save the life of a young girl’ and Zoe Brown, of Darwen, posted ‘Help do what is right’.

Donna said the response to the petition had been ‘absolutely brilliant’.

“It seems to be rollerballing but we need more signatures. I want enough signatures to make them listen,” she said.

Lancashire Telegraph assistant editor Emma Broom said: “We have had a fantastic response to this campaign but we want more of our readers to help Enola.”

The campaign has also been backed by Blackburn MP Kate Hollern who is working with Enola’s family.
