JUST when you thought summer arrived the Met Office has issued a rain warning for Blackburn, Burnley and Darwen.
East Lancashire was put on a Yellow Alert at 10.26am yesterday with the region expecting to be lashed by rain between 4pm and 11.50pm today.
Weather experts are predicting ‘isolated heavy and possibly severe thunderstorms’ late this afternoon with some torrential downpours leading to surface water flooding, with ‘hail and frequent lightning also possible hazards’.

Despite the rain, temperatures are predicted to reach a high of 29C in East Lancashire today, prompting health bosses to warn those at risk to take precautions Blackburn with Darwen Council’s health experts are reminding the elderly that they need to keep out of the heat, drink plenty of water and eat normally.
They say the same applies to those on medication and children who may overheat and become dehydrated.
Residents fasting for Ramadan are also being advised to drink plenty of fluidsbetween their fasts.
