A BLACKBURN man previously convicted of having sex with a horse has pleaded guilty to indecently exposing himself in front of an off-duty policewoman.

Polish-born Grzegorz Suliga, 42, confronted the woman by running towards her with his private parts hanging over the top of his tracksuit bottoms, Blackburn Magistrates' Court heard.

The victim was walking her dog near the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, between Rishton and Church, when the incident took place.

Suliga, of Worcester Road, Blackburn, approached her on a section of the path off St James Road, Church, on a Sunday evening.

The off-duty officer said she had to do a double-take when she saw Suliga with his genitals 'bouncing around' outside his clothing as he ran.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said: "As she got to the bottom of the dip she heard someone running towards her from behind. She looked round to see the defendant coming quite quickly towards her and she stopped to let him pass.

"She noticed as he jogged towards her that his genitals were hanging out over the waistband of his clothing."

Miss Allan said the officer instinctively turned away and thought: 'Did I just see that?'

Suliga then ran off up the path before he stopped and turned to face the officer, looking directly at her, the court heard.

Miss Allan added: "When she looked back she saw his genitals were definitely hanging over his waistband and he was staring straight at her.

"She decided to phone her husband, who is also a police officer, and a few minutes later he was arrested after a chase."

Suliga pleaded guilty to indecent exposure and was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client was 'deeply remorseful' about what had happened.

In 2012, Suliga admitted sexual penetration of a horse after he was photographed abusing the animal in a field off Moss Lane, Oswaldtwistle.

After that offence, he was sentenced to a two-year community supervision order and put on the sex offenders' register for life.
