A SERIES of football banning orders have been handed out to East Lancashire supporters after trouble before a Premier League fixture last year.

Nine arrests were made following confrontations between Burnley and Southampton fans prior to the home game in December.

Eight Burnley fans appeared before Pennine magistrates for charges in relation to trouble at Burnley Cricket Club.

Daniel Lee Dugdale, 21, of Lower Manor Lane, Burnley; Michael Bradley Tomlinson, 20, of Abbot Walk, Clitheroe, and Michael Tobias Jonathon Wilson, 21, of Highfield Avenue, Burnley, admitted threatening behaviour.

Wilson was fined £250 and Dugdale and Tomlinson £200, all with £85 costs and a three-year football banning order prohibiting attendance to Burnley FC games at Turf Moor or away venues, for a three-hours before and after matches.

One 17-year-old Burnley youth, who admitted the same charge, was given a ban and referred to the Burnley and Pendle youth offender panel for four months.

But magistrates declined to make banning orders against two 16-year-olds, who pleaded guilty to like offences, after ruling the punishment was not necessary as the pair were said to be ‘on the periphery’ of the disturbance.

Each was still given a four-month youth offender referral order and had to pay court costs.

Daniel Luke, 22, of Paisley Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to breaching a previous football banning order but denied using threatening behaviour and was bailed until July 16.

Thomas Pritchard, 24, of Cog Lane, Burnley was bailed until the same date after pleading not guilty pleas to charges of being drunk and disorderly and using threatening behaviour. Callum Warburton, 19, of Wordsworth Road, Accrington, also denied using threatening behaviour and was bailed until July 1.
