A CAR owner disturbed by voices outside looked out to see a man kick the wing mirror off her car, a court was told.

Blackburn magistrates heard that the woman's husband went after the three men who had been seen near the car and confronted them before flagging down a passing police patrol.

Lee Anthony Baker, 20, of Hector Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £50 compensation and £60 costs.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said it had been a moment of stupidity by Baker.

"He had drunk too much and feels he let himself down," he said.
