MINISTERS are being urged to follow Darwen train station's lead in installing CCTV cameras.
Three cameras go live' at Darwen station on April 6 and MP Janet Anderson wants funding for similar projects across the country.
It is hoped a £20,000 system consisting of three colour high-resolution cameras on two eight-metre columns will make the station safer.
Mrs Anderson said: "I call upon the Government to use Darwen station and the actions of Blackburn with Darwen Council as an example for action that needs to be taken at railway stations across the UK."
Residents or train users can report any incidents at the station to British Transport Police on 0800 405040.
