TOMORROW is judgement day for the Lancashire Telegraph’s own master of ale Mark Briggs as the Blackburn Beer Festival opens.
Mark worked with festival sponsor Thwaites to produce a special ale - dubbed Magoo’s after Mark’s poor eyesight - which will be available for the first time at the three-day event at Blackburn Rugby Club.

Now in its second year the festival over 60 real ales from across the North West and beyond, plus a selection of ciders and lagers will be available.
But there will be much more besides.
On opening night there will be live music from 7pm featuring Streetjazz. Then on Saturday there will be live rugby from noon to 6pm followed by a second appearance by Streetjazz and a spot from Sam Westhead.
On Sunday there will be junior rugby in the afternoon then in the evening David Jaggs, frontman of The Ragamuffins will play live followed by the Blues Hat Band.
The festival is a major fundraiser for Blackburn Youth Zone with tickets £5 and beer tokens available on site. The festival opens at 6pm tomorrow and then runs from midday on Saturday and Sunday.
