A dog owner whose animal attacked a man has been told he will not be going to jail.
David Hampson, 28, pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control and which caused injury to Mohammed Khan in a public place.
Burnley Crown Court heard how the defendant had the animal destroyed "almost immediately" afterwards.
David Temkin, his barrister told the court: "He had had it for six years and that was punishment in itself."
Hampson, of Rifle Street, Haslingden, was bailed until April 23, for reports and Judge Beverley Lunt said: "I am not looking at a custodial sentence. I am looking at a community sentence."
